HOMEMADE BODY SCRUB

As I mentioned in my Introduction post, I really love skin care and anything that promotes good hygiene. I take pride in healthy skin and proper hygiene, so I tend to be a hoarder  on these kind of products. From scrubs, shower gels, feminine washes etc.

So there are times when I am on a budget, and running out of the store bought scrubs and I need to exfoliate. And I remember the days seeing my sister making homemade scrubs for her face and I thought to myself, "why not make homemade scrubs?" So I went on Youtube and Google and start researching more ingredients and homemade scrubs which is safe an will not cause skin irritation. I found the sugar body scrub on the Youtuber SunkissedAlba's channel and was sold. Her scrub contains honey and oils. I tried hers for about a month and my skin was silk and smooth.

Around that time of the month, I get serious body acne and wanted them gone! But I needed another scrub which would help more. SO I made an scrub which I called the "Intense Scrub". Lets get to the recipes!

Moisturizing Scrub
This my altered version to SunKissedAlba's .

1/4 or 1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tbps Extra Virigin Olive Oil
4 drops Peppermint Oil

This scrub is perfect for lips also. Please never exfoliate no more than three times a week and ensure to moisturize after.

Intense Body Scrub

1/4 or 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 or half cup Cornmeal
4-5 TBS Etra Virgin Olive Oil
5 TBS Coconut Oil
4 drops of Peppermint oil or Vitamin e oil

This mix is great for acne prone skin, for the face, heels elbows and back. The cornmeal inside makes the texture of this scrub coarse and leaves you more smoother. Rich with my two favorite oils which are moisturizing. The vitamin e oil is great for anti aging and the peppermint oil gives a refreshing feeling. It is totally optional if you want to use a shower gel  after as a last wash to remove the excess oils. This scrub can be used twice a week or maybe once.

I make my batches to last me at least two weeks at a time. It is natural and it might smell overtime. It is totally optional if you want to store it in the refrigerator. I personally store mine at room temperature in a cool, dry place.

With these scrub, your skin will be smooth and moisturized within a week or two. Give it a try!
Do you have any homemade body scrub recipes you whip up in your kitchen?

Until next time
