NATURAL HAIR FEATURE: BEVERLY

  1. WHAT'S OUR NAME AND WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Hi, My name is Beverly from Omaha

  2.  DESCRIBE YOUR HAIR
            Curly Kinky

 3. WHY DID YOU GO NATURAL?
Because I wanted dreads originally but I like my curl pattern so much! I haven't switched it up yet... Not                sure if I still want to

4. WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE IN YOUR HAIR? ARE YOU COLOUR TREATED?
I have color but I don't do anything special to treat it besides keeping it moisturized, which one should do          for any hair. The products I use are basic and inexpensive. I use pink lotion for moisture and  eco style for          all my up-dos.

5. HAVE YOU ALWAYS EMBRACE YOUR TEXTURE?
Sometimes its a battle. Some curls don't always look the same or maybe they are different sizes, but the longer your natural the more it becomes a lifestyle. Once your comfortable in your hair your more accepting of its natural flaws and you just work it!

6. HOW LONG DID YOU TRANSITION TO NATURAL FOR?
Prior to my big chop i did sew-ins and braids for about 8 months. Got my big chop and now I'm currently 18 months natural.

7. HAVE YOU EVER INSPIRED ANYONE TO GO NATURAL?
     Not to my knowledge specifically

8. DO YOU HAVE ANY WORDS OF MOTIVATION FOR WOMEN WHO ARE THINKING OF TRANSITIONING OR NEWLY NATURAL?
A lot if women go natural and expect the tight curly look. Everyone's natural is different, so its just important to know your hair and find ways that you feel comfortable wearing. At first my hair was really short so I accessorized a lot. First it was headbands and big hoops then it transformed into large bows, I feel naked without them. Lately I've been watching tutorials on head-wraps and I seem to have found one I love, and I've worn it a few times. The best thing is to try try try until you find what works for you and stick to it!
