MY NIGHT-TIME ROUTINE: THE BANDING METHOD
It took me months to find out how to preserve my curl pattern at night. I used to wake up with smooshed hair that looked so weird. and I had to hair re-wet to revive my curls every morning. I hated going on the road with wet hair. I felt it looked so sloppy and pretty much hated the feeling!
So of course I had to come up with something that will preserve and protect my hair overall. I went on Youtube and researched all the different ways women preserve their natural hair at night. I then came across A Youtuber named AuCurls Naturelle. Her hair is really lovely. I have 4a hair which is a little similar to her to hers. I watched a video where she bands her hair overnight to give it a little more volume and length in the morning.
This is what I decided to try since my hair is too short for a pineapple. I also changed a few products while doing this to see which gave the best results.
Before I take down the Bands
I did my banding method alittle different than hers which you will see in her video, But I got very similar if not the same results. I used elastic bands but I totally recommend you using safer hair ties.
I used water, extra virgin olive oil or shea butter then use ORS Smooth and Hold pudding or the African Pride Bouncy Curls Pudding as cream then band the small section. I will be doing a review on the ORS product very soon.
The Results
In the picture above is what I get the morning. Doing this method and moisturizing and sealing with the same products gives me moisture retention and my wash n go lasts up to ten days or longer.
My coils and curls are healthy, shiny and manageable. I even get a lot of movement since the banding method also rid me of that gel cast I normally get. If you do have similar texture to mine or looser, you can try this method if the pineapple method is not working for you.
The pictures above show how my hair looks naturally with I do the banding method. At first I did not like the results but now I do it every night. There is a whole lot of trial and errors in a Natural Hair Journey and it take time and patients. So do not be afraid to try a product or a method more than once to see if it will actually work for you, once it is not damaging.
