HOW I DETANGLE MY CURLY HAIR
Welcome back to my Blog!!
Detangling can be very tricky when it comes to be newly natural. I am natural 1 year and 6 months and I just found out which method of Detangling my hair responds well to. All other methods has failed or caused breakage, matting and all things...well Chaos!!
Finger Detangling can be time consuming. This requires just your fingers. But my hair's density is just a little bit too much for this process. If you have read my previous posts, you would have seen pictures of my hair to know what I am dealing with. I have tried the Finger Detangling for 5 months and by day 2 my hair looks like a carpet. No Joke, My crown area is the curliest, thickest and the easiest to get matted. This method works for a lot of women, but just not me.
I have also tried the Tightly Curly Method. Its suppose to define your curls with conditioner only and with the help of denman brush. I got a 'knock off' Denman brush and tried this method. But some how it did not work. The conditoner was too heavy for my hair. Yes my hair is highly dense but I have Medium to fine hair strands. So too much heavy products makes my hair extremely limp and dull. So of course I had to ditch that method
I kept wonder what I was doing wrong until I decided switch my tool that I was using to Dentangle and decided to grab my very old Shampoo Comb.
I applied my Deep Conditioner mix which includes Conditioner (mostly vo5), Honey and few Bananas, to dry hair and then I Detangle. I find that my hair is super Detangled and my curl pattern is not disturbed. I detangle from ends to root and In some areas root to ends. After a Hour, I rinse and Co wash. I always use bananas in my Deep conditioning routine because bananas moisturizes my hair and the slip it gives while detangling is amazing. My hair seems so much healthier since including Banana weekly.
This Simple routine leaves my hair flowing and manageable all week long. So, it all boils down to what works for you. My method might work or might not work for you. You can give it a try by even adding Bananas to you mix, even tho you might be tempted to eat it instead.
Do Not forget to seal in that deep conditioner with an oil for that extra Boost of moisture.
