SHAMPOOS- MY LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP
My Staple Shampoo
I made a post and in it I said I never really liked shampooing and would stick to co washing more. So I did use the co washing method and Apple cider vinegar rinses for about 6 months, with little to no shampooing. My hair was clean but I was having build up a little more frequently.
Reason being, is that I use conditioners for everything! I use it as a styler, a leave-in and moisturizer. The three brand of conditioners I rather rotate depending on my budget are Tresemme, vo5 and Lustrasilk Olive Oil Cholesterol. I continue using them regardless of the ingredients.
So at the beginning of this year, I decided to incorporate Shampooing again into my regimen to see if I could help minimize the build up. But at the same time, I hated that shampoo did strip my hair alittle too much. So what did I do? I changed My technique?
My New Technique
I never thought of changing the brand of shampoos, simply because I have a ton load of Tresemme shampoo lying around the house. My mom always buys them for me. Yeah, I am spoiled!
So I decided that I would shampoo my scalp ONLY ONCE and then co-wash the length of my hair with a cleansing conditioner and rinse thoroughly. Did this work? YES! to my surprise it did! My hair was not left stripped but actually quite soft and moisturized. I finger detangle while the cleansing conditioner is in my hair. I sometimes use a comb is I plan to do a twist out.
So I now decide to do this technique at least twice a month. I will continue to co wash. After I have finish the rest of the Tresemme I have, I will change to the Tresemme Naturals Shampoo, I have heard nothing but good reviews on this brand. Its a huge bottle and will last me forever!
Remember girls, a clean scalp with always help growth and maintain a healthy scalp! So it is always important to listen to your hair and scalp. Build up can cause irritation. You can get a sulfate free shampoo or use any brand you like. Just create a method that suites your hair best. You can choose to dilute the shampoo also.
Until my next post...
