I BLEACHED MY HAIR
A day After Bleaching My Hair
Hey there everyone!! I know persons hate the idea of Naturals bleaching their hair, some even consider you not natural anymore. But I got bored with my hair and did the "unthinkable"! And I love the results!!
After WEEKS of research, watching Youtube videos and advice from hair stylists, I went out and got what I need to bleach my hair. I got a Volume 40 Developer and Basic white. I know that volume 40 is rather strong for natural hair, but my Hairdresser of many years told me to get that volume developer. I mix one bottle 125ml bottle of developer to about 8 tablespoons of Basic white powder or just enough for the amount of hair I have. I applied QUICKLY in sections and let it sit for 15 minutes. I rinsed ,shampooed, added hair color and then deep conditioned.
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?
Yes! Not much in hair texture, I still have very frizzy curly hair, my curls are not elongated and my texture has not loosen. BUT I noticed an immediate DRYNESS! Now, I realized I need to change my products all over and maybe a few adjustments to my regimen.
- Some of my stylers or conditioners are not as moisturizing as before.
- I need more protein in my regimen even though there is dryness, I need to prevent breakage and keep the strength of my hair.
- I need to have color treated hair products.
SO WHAT IS YOUR NEW REGIMEN?
- My new regimen consist of me not making wash day pass at least 6 days!
- I try to moisturize my hair every two days or when necessary.
- Deep conditioning with a hair MASK seem to work best for my now Bleached hair.
- Gels with lighter hold is still best for my hair
- Oil rinsing is a must to enhance moisture retention!
- Sealing with an oil. Before I could get away with out sealing after moisturizing but now it makes life better.
- I shampoo twice a month. Since I am using heavier products, my hair tends to get a bit weighed down and greasy with co-washing only.
- At least two days of low manipulation. I put my hair in a bun for two days until my wash day.
I must say I do enjoy being a color treated girl! I love coloring my hair and the different looks I get with each coloring session. I must admit that bleaching has it Pros and Cons, and some getting used to. But all - in- all I do not regret bleaching and coloring my hair. I must encourage a strict regimen and frequent deep treatment. And lastly try keep a good moisture/ protein balance as always.
I do have some products I have tried since being Color treated which I am inlove with! So i will have products reviews coming up.
Until next time Dolls...
Enjoy Your Hair
